Summer Homeschool: Westward Expansion

After a long spring break we are doing one more unit study before we finish out our current homeschool year. History Pockets: Moving West! We have added our own twist to some of the projects. Instead of making pocket folders we created an old looking  book and artistic front covers.

History Pockets: Moving West by Evan-Moor
I am using this reproducible curriculum as my foundation. I have added my own twist to some of the projects. I will update this post as we complete more of the lessons so check back each week for more updates and ideas. I am also compiling a Westward Expansion Video Links list from Youtube for each lesson that I am using with my children. I will share these with you as soon as I am done compiling it. Here are links for a covered wagon and Old West Fort. My boys are looking forward to making these! We are going to make a diorama with them.

Resource #3 Books
Here are the supplemental books we are using. We are currently reading through The Story of Daniel Boone by Walter Retan. I have used American History Homework as a reference book to look up some things for more explanation such as The French and Indian War.
