My 8 and 10 year old recently started learning cursive. When I was browsing through our curriculum I came across the book Draw & Write Through History which has cursive copywork in it. The first lesson in the book is about Christopher Columbus, so our cursive unit study quickly morphed into a Christopher Columbus & Cursive unit study. We began by using a free print out from education.com that teaches each letter. After they became familiar with writing each letter we moved on to the Draw and Write Through History book.  We drew his ship and then began the cursive copywork that is in the book. We only copy a few words in cursive at a time, that's about all their patience can handle. We are also reading through a book called The Life of Christopher Columbus by Josephine Pollard. I printed free coloring pages from the internet and have them color while I read. We would also pause to locate places on the map and I have them say/repeat important words or names throughout our reading. Bon Voyage!
