Free Book Review Worksheet

10/30/2017

Reading literature is a very important aspect of a good education. As educators we don't always have time to read every book we assign yet we need a way to test their reading comprehension. Reports and essays are a great way to test them, however, sometimes you just need a quick way to gauge their understanding and move on to the next book. Here is a free book review worksheet that will do just that.
Print multiple copies of this worksheet and bind them together to make a book for each school year.

Free Resource: Draw & Write Worksheets

10/23/2017

I designed these worksheets to go along the Draw and Write Through History books by Carylee Gressman. We just love these books! I am drawn to curriculum that teaches multiple subjects at the same time and that's what makes these so perfect. They offer small bits of history, art lessons, and handwriting copywork. My son will be going through these books next week so I made him these worksheets to go along with our lessons. And like always, I share them with you. These worksheets offer enough lines to complete the longer copywork passages.

USA Label the States

Use these worksheets to supplement your geography lessons as you learn about USA states or use the 3 bonus activities I have included: Label-As-You-Learn, Test Their Knowledge, and Review Jar. Most maps don’t show the correct location of Alaska and it’s often scaled improperly. These worksheets will show your students the actual size and location of Alaska. They will not be tricked into saying that Texas is the largest state!
NO PREP activities, just print and teach or use with your current curriculum!

Brick Challenge: Build A Boat Lesson Plan

10/7/2017

This lesson was so much fun! My students loved making their boats, seeing if they were buoyant, then sinking them with gold. Adding balloon motors at the end of the lesson was the icing on the cake. My class of k-2nd graders were able to easily blow up their balloons to make their boats move and race in the water.
I brought in a digital kitchen scale so they could learn about pounds and ounces and how to write the abbreviations, It was also a gentle introduction to decimals. I was actually a bit surprised at how much they enjoyed weighing their Lego boats. I have now incorporated it into most of our class lessons. To go a step further, you could even bring in a balance scale  to compare the weight of two Lego boat creations.
Learning about inches and centimeters has been another fun aspect of this lesson. They easily grasped the concept of measuring how long and how tall their creation was and were able to execute this task quite easily.
This lesson plan incorporates S.T.E.M. concepts with physical science, math, and engineering skills.
Learning how to write the names of colors, counting their gold, and doing vocabulary copywork create a perfectly balanced lesson plan. This lesson plan is a win win for kids and teachers.
NO PREP lesson plan, just print and teach!
