My Favorite Devotionals To Do With Kids

I have done many devotionals over the years with my kids  to supplement our bible reading. Here are a list of books that I own and have used.

The Narrow Way by Pearables, ISBN: 978-0-9792-4465-0
This book has 8 units: Faith, Virture, Knowledge, Temperance, Patience, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness, and Charity, which follows after 2 Peter 1:4-8.
Each of these units have an average of 18 lessons that dive into what the bible says about them. For example, unit 1- Faith has lessons on faith, faith in God, God is King, Our Lord's Kingdom, How to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, Loyaty, Trust, Allegiance, and others. 
Each lesson includes a note to the parent, dictionary definitions, scripture verses to ask you children to look up and read aloud, and questions to ask. You will even find scripture quotes so not all of the references have to be look up in the bible. 
Age Recommendation: ages 7 and up.

A Boy After God's Own Hear by Jim George, ISBN: 978-0-7369-4502-8
This book has 10 chapters: My Heart, My Space, My Parents, My Family, My School, My Friends, My Church, My Self, My Time, and My Journey with Jesus.
Each chapter has a story about a boy named Dylan then follows with biblical insight, scripture verses and references, and questions. It is scattered with fun reflection activities.
Age Recommendation: ages 10-14

Battlefield of the Mind For Teens by Joyce Meyer, ISBN: 978-0-4469-9764-4
​I read this book with my daughter and I just love the biblical truths that are presented and how it exposes many of the lies and challenges that teens face in our present day and age.
It covers topics such as: The Power of the Positive, Don't Let Satan Put Your Mind in a Bind, Is My Mind Normal, or What?, The State of Doubt and Unbelief, The State of Passivity,  and more.
Age Recommendation: ages 13-18

Children Demand a Verdict: Answering Questions About What We Believe and Why We Believe It, ISBN: 978-1-6009-8012-1
This is an excellent apologetics book. There is an illustration for every question which is great for visual learners. It has questions such as:
Why did God make people?
Why do I feel bad when I do something wrong?
Why doesn't God just forget our sins?
Will God forgive really bad people?
Is God ever too busy to listen to my prayers?
Did Jesus really come back to life after he died?
Is it okay to have Easter baskets and look for Easter eggs?
Why is the Bible so big?
Why do people from different religions sometimes fight?
Why do we need rules?
Why does God let bad things happen to me sometimes?
Why do we go to church?
How long will we be in Heaven?
…...and many, many more!
Age Recommendation: ages 5-13

Not a Fan Teen Edition by Kyle Idleman, ISBN: 978-0-3107-3400-0
I love this book. It really challenges you to think about your walk with the Lord. Are you a fan of Jesus or a follower of Jesus?
There are 14 chapters, some of these include:
Knowledge about him or intimacy with him?
Following Jesus or following the rules?
Self-empowered or spirit-filled?
deny-a total surrender
take up your cross daily- an every day death

The Jesus Storybook Bible, ISBN: 978-0-3017-0825-4 and Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing by Sally Lloyd-Jones

These books are beautiful in script and in illustration. They include bible stories and truths that are written with such beautiful eloquence and are coupled with lively illustrations that younger children will love.
Age Recommendation: ages 3-8

The Ultimate Boys' Book of Devotions, ISBN: 978-0-3107-4534-1
Sometimes you just need a quick and simple nugget of truth to start or finish the day with. This book does just that. Each devotion has a scripture reference and a life-application story to go along with it. 
Age Recommendation: ages 9-14

Leading Little Ones to God, ISBN: 978-0-8028-5120-8
There are 14 sections and 86 lesson in this book. The sections are: Looking for God, God is Very Great, All That God Does is Good, Sin Spoiled the World, God's Law, God Loves Us, What Jesus Did, About the Holy Spirit, How we Become Children of God, How God's Children Live and Grow, God Helps His Children Live for Him, When We Pray to God, About God's Church, Things That Are To Happen.

Each Lesson has a story, questions, memory verse, scripture reference to a related bible story, a hymn, and a prayer.
Age Recommendation: ages 4-12

Proverbs People Book One, ISBN: 978-0970877086 and Proverbs People Book Two, ISBN: 978-0970877093 by Rick and Marilyn Boyer
Proverbs is the book of wisdom and all parents desire their children to attain it. These books walk your kids through the wisdom found in the book of proverbs with scripture references and comprehension questions, real-life stories that give an example, and application questions that follow. You will also find a Fun Quiz and a coloring page with an image and a scripture verse in large bubble letters to color.
These are workbooks so you'll want one copy per kid.
Age Recommendation: ages 8-12

A Child's Book of Character Building Book 1, ISBN: 978-0800754945 and A Child's Book of Character Building Book 2, ISBN: 978-0800754952 by Ron & Rebekah Coriell
These books cover a variety of character traits such as: attentive, faith, creative, obedience, wisdom, honesty, loyalty, self-control, tolerance, and more.
Each Character begins with a simple definition that kids can easily memorize and a scripture verse. It continues with an illustration ( It looks like a coloring page so you could let your child color it) and several stories about that character. For example, Meekness in the Bible, Meekness at Home, Meekness at School, Meekness at Play. They end with Character Development Challenges.
